Dear model building enthusiasts, today we’d like to give you a fascinating insight into the world of the Lamborghini Countach LP500S (Revell Shoplink) – a vehicle that not only makes the hearts of car fans beat faster, but is also a real highlight for model builders.

The Birth of a Legend

The Lamborghini Countach LP500S was introduced in 1982 as the successor to the original Countach LP400. It was part of the Countach series, which was produced from 1974 to 1990 and revolutionized and thrilled the automotive world. With its striking wedge-shaped body, a height of just 1.07 m, and a width of 2 m, the Countach set new standards in sports car design.

Technical Sophistication

The LP500S was equipped with a larger V12 engine with 4.8 liters of displacement. This increase in power gave the vehicle an impressive 375 hp for its time, shooting it from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds and to a breathtaking top speed of 293 km/h. For you model builders, it’s certainly interesting to know that the wheelbase was 2450 mm and the curb weight was 1450 kg.

Famous Owners and Pop Culture

The Countach was not only a dream car for many, but also very popular among celebrities. Rockstar Rod Stewart, for example, owned a Countach LP 400 painted in a striking “Blu Tahiti.” Fashion entrepreneur Ralph Lauren also couldn’t resist the charm of the Countach and acquired a red 5000S with rear wing on December 30, 1983. The Countach has also left its mark on pop culture. Do you remember the film “The Wolf of Wall Street”? A white Countach had a memorable appearance when Leonardo DiCaprio tried to get into the car under the influence of drugs – a scene that stuck in the minds of many viewers (from personal experience, I can also say that getting in and out is a real challenge even when completely sober – not to mention parking in reverse).

What Does Countach Actually Mean?

There’s an interesting anecdote about the name “Countach.” It is said to be an exclamation of amazement in the Piedmontese dialect, uttered by an employee when he first saw the finished car.

So Many Technical Sophistications in the Countach

A technical highlight of the Countach was its upward-opening scissor doors, which not only looked spectacular but were also practical, as they required less space to open than conventional doors.

For you model builders, the Countach LP500S offers a wealth of details to discover. From the complex lines of the body to the detailed interior – every aspect of this car is both a challenge and a joy to recreate. Particularly interesting for your models could be the various color variants in which the Countach was available. From classic red as in our base version, to exotic blue, to elegant black – each color gives the model a unique character. Also pay attention to the fine details such as the side air vents, the characteristic headlights, and of course the iconic scissor doors. These elements make the Countach a real eye-catcher, whether in original size or as a model.

The Countach LP500S was one of the fastest production sports cars in the world at its time, and its greatest competitor was probably the Ferrari 512 BB.

Kit Highlights in 1:24 Scale

The Lamborghini Countach LP500S is more than just a car – it’s a legend on wheels, a piece of automotive history, and a design icon. For you model builders, it offers a unique opportunity to recreate and preserve a piece of this history. Whether you’re tracing the sweeping lines of the body, replicating the complex mechanics of the V12 engine, or reconstructing the luxurious details of the interior – every aspect of the Countach LP500S is a challenge that will test and improve your skills.

The kit consists of 124 individual parts and, at Level 5, is aimed at experienced builders who, after completion, will have a model with a length of 17.8 cm, a height of 4.5 cm, and a width of 8.3 centimeters.
